May 20, 2pm-5:00 pm, Refresher Training for New or Veteran Volunteers - Richmond
JRA needs your help collecting water samples and recording data to track the environmental health of the River. Sampling will occur weekly from May to September and data will be made available to the public on JRA's James River Watch website (thejamesriver.org/jrw). This training will be held at the JRA Richmond Office, 4833 Old Main Street, Richmond, VA 23231 Register here.

May 22, 12pm -4pm, Deep Bottom Park - Henrico
Join JRA at Deep Bottom Park in Henrico County to finish a trail improvement project. We will be mulching a trail, so please come dressed to work in sturdy shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. May 27, 6pm - 8pm, Lynchburg Paddling Trip
Bring your canoe or kayak and join JRA's Upper James River Outreach Coordinator, Rob Campbell, on a quiet James River paddle leaving out of Riveredge Park. Please bring life jackets for the trip. Pre-registration is required

Explore the quiet marshes of Powhatan Creek on a free interpretive kayak paddle, guided by naturalists at Eco Discovery Park. Limit of 14 participants, with pre-registration required. Kayaks, paddles and life jackets will be provided by Eco Discovery Park. Trips are free to the public, but participants may only attend one trip in the 2015 series.

June 2, 2015 6pm - 8:00 pm, Richmond Paddling Trip
Enjoy a free paddling trip in Richmond, guided by JRA Staff. Depart from Great Shiplock Park, at the intersection of Pear and Dock Streets in Richmond. There is a limit of 16 participants, with pre-registration required. Bring your own canoe or kayak, or use ours. Trips are free to the public, but participants may only attend one trip in the 2015 series.

June 6, 2015 - 2 - 6pm, Westover Lawn Party, Charles City
The Annual Westover Lawn Party is a signature event held each summer at Westover Plantation in Charles City, VA. This event, JRA’s largest fundraiser, centers on family and educational activities, live entertainment, great food and both a silent and live auction. Purchase tickets here.

Training for JRA’s RiverRats program, to be held in Covington, at Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce Building, 110 Mall Road, Covington Virginia 24426. Directions. Bring your own kayak or rent on from Windsor Castle Kayaks for $10 per participant. We will be leaving out of Windsor Castle Park and paddling Cypress Creek and the Pagan River. Trips are free to the public (with your own kayak). Limit of 14 participants, with pre-registration required.

June 24, 6pm - 8pm, Lynchburg Paddling Trip
Bring your canoe or kayak and join JRA's Upper James River Outreach Coordinator, Rob Campbell, on a quiet James River paddle leaving out of Riveredge Park. Please bring life jackets for the trip. Pre-registration is required. Registration opens May 28.

June 27 - 28, 2015, James River Rundown
Pick your distance and let's go! The James River Rundown is a series of canoe, kayak, and paddleboard races running through the heart of Virginia, on thehistoric James River.  This is no relaxing float trip. Competitors will fight through wind, natural obstacles and fatigue to claim victory. Grab your gear and join us for a wild ride! www.jamesriverrundown.org Volunteers needed!

The James River Splash & Dash Sponsored by Riverside Outfitters is a one-of-a-kind 5K trail run that includes a flat water tube across the James River. Get ready to navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds, including rocks, roots, and other natural obstacles. www.JRSplashAndDash.org Voluteers needed!

The James River Splash & Dash in Lynchburg is a one-of-a-kind 2 mile trail run that includes a flat water tube down the James River.  Participants run down the paved path on Percival's Island, navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds before hitting the water with a tube. www.JRSplashAndDash.org Voluteers needed!
